Doctrinal Statement

Jesus Christ

God incarnate (John 1:14), born of a Virgin (Isaiah 7:14), who made a voluntary, sacrificial, and substitutionary death (I Peter 3:18) on Calvary and then literally resurrected gloriously the 3rd day (I Tim. 3:16; I Cor. 15:1-4) and who will literally return at the 2nd Advent to punish (II Thess 1:7-9) and destroy His enemies (Isaiah 66:15-16) and set up a Millennial Kingdom (Psalm 2, Isaiah 11, Rev 20).

Salvation

By grace through faith in Jesus Christ plus nothing (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-13, John 1:12).

Scripture

King James 1611 Authorized Version—Given by inspiration, preserved, inerrant, infallible (II Tim. 3:16; Psalms 12:6-7).  The modern versions of the Bible arise from a corrupted Alexandrian text-type which is characterized by omissions and results in “rotten fruit.”

We believe that the God who inspired the Scriptures is powerful enough to preserve them in the form in which He intended us to have them.  We believe not only in inspiration, but preservation of the Scriptures.  We believe that the providential preservation of the New Testament concentrated itself on that Greek text within the sphere of the Greek Church through Antioch, Syria, and that the text of the majority of manuscripts from this area is the providentially preserved and AUTHORIZED text. The text of the majority is the standard text.

This text is the Textus Receptus of the Syrian (Byzantine) extraction, coming to the English-speaking people through the Reformation in the Balkans and Germany.  The final outstanding representative of this text is the King James 1611 Authorized Version, which represents a purified, neutral text (Beza’s fifth edition with improvements over Erasmus.)

Theology

We are not Calvinistic or Arminian, we are Dispensational Bible Believers.  We are against the falsehoods, denominational heresies, and outright errors taught in the "major" seminaries and propagated in most churches: the lies of higher and lower criticism of the word of God, also the elevation of the traditions of men over the word of God (e.g. Infant Baptism, Calvinism, Female Pastors,  Baptismal Regeneration, Annihilationism, Salvation by Works, Soul Sleep, Unscriptural Teachings about Divorce and Remarriage, and on and on) as well as the ever-accompanying God-dis-honouring philosophical speculations and Anti-Biblical suppositions of the Alexandrian Cult in all of its various forms and Laodicean manifestations. We also believe in a practical, Biblical Christianity: prayer, personal work, confession of sins, giving, ministering to the saints, and a daily walk with Jesus Christ, including confessing Him before men and bearing His reproach.

Eternal Security

New Testament Church Age Believers are eternally secure (Rom 8:38-39; Philip. 1:6).

"Once Saved, Always Saved."

Salvation is a GIFT (Rom. 5:15-18; 6:23).  You cannot do anything to EARN it, or to KEEP it.

Verses which appear to teach otherwise (Matthew 5:29-30; 24:13; Hebrews 6:4-6; 10:26) are typically doctrinally aimed at the Tribulation or Millennium periods.  The misapplication of these types of passages to the New Testament Church Age believer has resulted in much heresy and confusion over the years.

End Times Prophetical Positions

Pre-Trib Rapture of New Testament Church Age Saints (I Thess.4:13-18; I Cor 15:51-55)

A Seven-Year Tribulation Period on Earth during which the Lord resumes His dealings with Israel by wrapping up the 70th Week of Daniel (Daniel 9), during which time the Raptured Church is going through (on an individual basis) the Judgment Seat of Christ (Romans 14:10-12; I Corinthians 3; II Corinthians 5:10).

Pre-Millennial Return of Jesus Christ (Rev 20)

The Church

The Bible shows two scriptural uses of the word "church," namely the spiritual body of Christ, consisting of ALL believers, AND each local assembly of believers; Ephesians 1:22-23; Galatians 1:13; II Corinthians 11:28. We believe that all people who have been born again are a part of "the church, which is his body," and therefore should join an autonomous local church (Hebrews 10:25). The Body of Christ and the Bride of Christ are one and the same (Ephesians 5:22-33).  Furthermore, we believe the Biblical church to be an Independent Bible-believing (KJV) Baptist Church separate from religio-political bosses and other ecclesiastical and commercial hierarchy (Ephesians 1:22-23).

Church Ordinances & Offices

Believer’s Baptism (By immersion FOLLOWING salvation as in Acts 8:26-38 and 16:25-33) and the Lord’s Supper are the two scriptural ordinances, but neither has any saving power (Luke 22:19 and I Cor. 1:17). Trinity Baptist Church observes the Lord's Supper the first Sunday of each month, in conjunction with our regular Worship Service.  Prior to observing the ordinance, time is given for individual meditation, prayer, and reflection (I Cor. 11:26-34).

The two Scriptural Church offices are that of Pastor (also referred to as Bishop or Elder) and Deacon, whose requirements are listed in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Israel

God’s chosen and preserved covenant people (Zech. 2:6-9; Malachi 3:6) who are temporarily blinded until a future restoration at Christ’s 2nd Advent (Rom. 11).  God will resume His dealings with Israel

as a nation during the 70th Week of Daniel, often referred to as the Tribulation Period; which period is described in Revelation chapters 6-19, and the divine purposes of which are given in Daniel 9:24.

Eternal State

Heaven and Hell (ultimately the Lake of Fire) are both real and eternal places (Rev 20-21).

Apostolic Sign Gifts

Operative when God is dealing nationally with Israel—presently thus NOT in effect as God is dealing nationally with Gentiles (Rom. 11; I Cor. 1:22; I Cor. 14:22).

During the Acts of the Apostles, which is a transitional book, God moves from the nation of Israel to the Gentiles, and as the Gentiles are not promised signs, God phases out the Apostolic Sign Gifts connected with Israel.  Israel is used to signs because their national history began with signs (Exodus 3-4).  This "phasing out" can be observed in the ministry of the Apostle Paul, who while God was dealing with Israel, could heal anything and everything, up to and including death (Acts 19:11-12; 20:7-12); but at the end of his ministry, could not heal anything or anyone (observe how he could not heal Trophimus in II Timothy 4:20--it says he left the man sick, nor Timothy in I Timothy 5:23--who was advised to take medicine because he couldn't get healed either, nor could Paul heal Epaphroditus as recounted in Philippians 2:25-30--during which time Paul expressed great concerns that Epaphroditus would die, which would have been no problem earlier in his ministry, when he could have simply raised him again from the dead!).

HOWEVER, God very definitely can and does heal people today, no doubt about it.  But it is with a different motive and a different method.  The motive is not to prove anything to anyone, which during the Old Testament and the Acts period, was the motive.  God would send someone with a divine message, and either before or after the messenger delivered the message, the messenger would be given supernatural power to work miracles (called "signs and wonders") so as to prove that they really were of God.  This can be seen in Mark 16:20, where just after the giving of the Great Commission, the Bible records, "And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen."  This point can also be seen in Hebrews 2:3-4, which reads, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?"

Concerning the different method mentioned above, in the Apostolic Healing, the healing is instantaneous and miraculous and therefore quite dramatic.  Lame people would get up and walk immediately.  Lepers were healed immediately. A man with a crippled and shriveled hand stretches it forth and it is healed right then and there.  Things were done "on the spot."  Nowadays, it seems God's desires regarding healings and health tend towards activating and accelerating natural healing processes, causing favorable medical testings and procedural outcomes, and even up to and including physically "unexplainable" medical reversals and outcomes.  Were the healings today to be of an identical nature with Apostolic Healings, you would observe church members snapping IV's out of their arms, sutures and staples dissolving instantly and amazingly, blood levels stabilizing within seconds, gangrenous and infected wounds and organs recovering completely and instantly, and patients then walking in perfect health out with their pastors upon receiving a pastoral visit and prayer (Mark 16:18; James 5:16).

Divorce & Remarriage

Doctrinally speaking, flesh joining flesh constitutes a marriage.  It is NOT a marriage ceremony or license that doctrinally speaking constitutes a marriage.  Now practically speaking, and legally speaking, yes, you should go get a marriage license because the Bible says, "Submit yourself to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers." (I Peter 2:13) as well as,

"Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work," (Titus 3:1), so no one is here advocating simply Common Law marriages, "Free Love," or anything of the kind, but the fact remains that IN THE BIBLE, doctrinally speaking,

flesh joining flesh constitutes a marriage.

This truth can be observed in action in Genesis 2:23-24--no ring, no license, no wedding ceremony, and that is the first marriage in the Bible, called so in Ephesians 5:28-33.

Again, in Genesis 29:23-25.  When Jacob mistakenly spends the night with Leah instead of Rachel and awakes in the morning, he is married to Leah.  It wasn’t them standing before an altar and taking vows that married them, it was the physical union.

Again, this explains Ruth 3:14-18, where Naomi, who has known Ruth literally for years and who was living with her and was even then daily communing with her, upon seeing her, after a date night Ruth has with Boaz, asks Ruth, “Who art thou, my daughter?” This question was posed to Ruth because if something physical had gone down on the threshing floor with Boaz the night before, Ruth would now be Mrs. Boaz!

Again, this can be seen in First Corinthians 6:15-16, which reads, "Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?  shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot?  God forbid.  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body?

for two, saith he, shall be one flesh."

The Bible teaches two circumstances for divorce (fornication or desertion)

and three for remarriage (death, fornication, or desertion).

These truths are found in Matthew 19, Romans 7, and I Corinthians 7.

It should be noted, however, that just because someone has grounds for divorce, doesn’t mean that they should divorce or are required to divorce.  Forgiveness is advisable, and typically results in better (healthier) outcomes for all those involved, especially children.  But, admittedly, that forgiveness is up to the injured party.
